PartyPoker.com to sponsor Lingerie Bowl 2004.

PartyPoker.com, the world's largest and most popular online poker room, is the new sponsor of Lingerie Bowl, a controversial pay-per-view event to air Super Bowl Sunday during halftime.
The show will include a lingerie fashion runway show followed by a tackle football game between 14 scantily-clad lingerie models.
"It's all about having good, clean fun," said Lawrence Taylor, coach of one of the event's two teams.
The Lingerie Bowl was originally to be sponsored by Dodge, but the car company pulled out amidst complaints from female buyers and employees. "Dodge brand's sponsorship of the Lingerie Bowl has become a distraction," said George E. Murphy, senior vice president of global marketing at Chrysler. |
Dodge attempted to distance themselves from the event, but the negative publicity still mounted. "We didn't want to spend the next six to eight weeks dealing with this in the media," another Chrysler Group spokesman said.
Among potential viewers, however, expectation and anticipation are high. "My buddies and I will be catching the show, I was a little bummed at first to learn they had lost a sponsor, but I'm glad they'll be showing it as originally planned cause it's definitely gonna rock," John Taylor, a local college student, commented.
"This is going to be the hottest show of the day, and that's a bet I'll take any day," said another.
The event's core demographic is primarily males--ages 18 through 34.
Mandy Ellison, who had originally tried to lobby Dodge to drop its support, said she was appalled that the event would go on afterall. "I am absolutely disgusted by the way women are portrayed in our so-called modern society. Having a bunch of women running around a football field in thongs is absolutely inexcusable. I’ll say it one more time: We are not sex symbols for a bunch of testosterone-filled apes to drool over," she said. "Last month we successfully pressured Dodge to stop their support of the event, but apparently the Lingerie people found someone else, some kind of poker website if I’m not mistaken, which by the way is another vile male activity. So rest assured, I will not stop my crusade until the whole world knows the exploitation of women that is happening here today," stated Mandy, who we ascertain is most likely single, and will remain so for a long time.
